Something is going on in Provence. With 2025 dubbed the year of Paul Cézanne due to the reopening of the family estate, Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, as well as an exhibition of over 130 works titled Cézanne at Jas de Bouffan at the Musée Granet, Provence was all over the (art) news this summer. But it’s not just the history revisited that continues making headlines. It’s something new and interesting and it’s linked to contemporary art. I caught wind of it after writing this piece about Ralph Pucci International’s PURE at Château La Coste. A sculpture garden, winery, and arts destination, Château La Coste is also a luxury hotel. It’s home to works of art and architecture by a range of superstars, from Tadao Ando to Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois, and Oscar Niemeyer, to name a few. When the story went live, I got an email from Garen Barsegian, the creative director and photographer who runs a residency in Provence called La Maison de la Chapelle just a couple of hours by car from Château La Coste. He said he loved the place and to keep an eye on the area: There was more to come, and a lot underway. Published by ELLE Decor in June 2025. Read the piece here.
